Removal of Trees at Farmer’s Market

Like most of Aiken, HAF was distressed by the removal of trees at the Farmer’s Market. We are happy to hear from the City that as of June 30, the project is on hold indefinitely. The plan going forward is for the Williamsburg Street Project to be submitted to Aiken’s Design Review Board for review, including public comment. In addition, after HAF President Linda Johnson spoke on the issue at the last Council meeting, Mayor Osbon noted that procedures are being changed such that future City projects will go through the same review process that would be applied to any private party.
